Vera Semenova is a teacher training expert at the Teacher Retraining Institute of the Sakha Republic. She is currently running teacher training courses and introducing teachers to DynEd.

"I have been teaching EFL for 40 years, including training and retraining EFL teachers in the Sakha Republic for the past 29 years. About 85-90% of our students study English from grades 2-11. There are about 1200 EFL teachers in the whole area of Sakha.

"In my opinion, DynEd's teacher training course is a masterpiece. In almost two years of DynEd teaching and training, I haven't met a single teacher or student who hasn't been deeply impressed by this brilliant course."

When I was first introduced to the RHR theory at a conference in Russia I was deeply impressed. Two years later, at another conference in Vladivostok, I requested DynEd to organize a training program for my colleagues and me, which was held in Beijing about six months later. Subsequently I began to use the new Teacher Training Course, both for myself and to upgrade the teaching and language skills of teachers in my area. I have now conducted several training programs, and I am encouraging others to do so, though it is sometimes difficult to get people to change their ways. My hope is that eventually, step by step, RHR will be used in most of our schools and will prove its effectiveness.

In my opinion, DynEd's teacher training course is a masterpiece. In almost two years of DynEd teaching and training, I haven't met a single teacher or student who hasn't been deeply impressed by this brilliant course. Most of the trainees have started to use the DynEd courses immediately after the training. Many students, teachers and parents have already noticed how much the learners have improved their listening and speaking skills. It is worth seeing. You need only take a look at the students' faces and you will be amazed how confident they have become in speaking English. The "4-skills path" does wonders in the skillful hands of a good teacher.

RHR is a real breakthrough in language learning theory and practice. As most masterpieces, it is both unique and simple at the same time. The deep scientific theory behind it and its practical function make it an excellent tool to improve the level of teaching English. It gives a well-designed, strong base for how to use CALL. It focuses on the learning process and effective practice, not only on the final result.

rds1.jpg DynEd's innovative use of Speech Recognition, its Intelligent Tutor, and its Records Manager are all unique features of RHR - which to my mind deserves the highest honor in our profession. In addition, I feel that the RHR theory and practice has been developed with a deep respect for us - EFL teachers - with an awareness of all our problems. One teacher said: "How well the author of RHR theory knows my personal teaching problems, as if he had attended my classes! Where does he live now? Is he going to come to Sakha one day?"

In conclusion, my strong belief: RHR is the best approach available and should be a fundamental part of teacher training. Eventually it will change the whole EFL teaching situation in Sakha Republic."
